I find that using Twitter for educational purposes is beneficial. I like how I can see what articles or posts my classmates enjoyed and thought were helpful. It can also be used as a place to ask questions about the class. It could be helpful in my future career by tweeting important dates and events. More schools should implement the use of social media in their classrooms so the students have a way to connect through the class, and have a way to communicate easily.

            The digital divide affects many students in America. Some students may not have access to technology in private or public settings. Another issue is that some students are not taught the proper lessons on technology because their teachers are not accustomed to using technology. Students without access to technology are more likely to struggle later on because today’s society is so heavily reliant on technology. As a teacher I will make sure I am up to date on the newest technology and do everything I can to make sure my students are given the tools they need to succeed.

            As an elementary teacher, I expect that I will use Microsoft Word the most. It can be used to practice typing skills, write short stories, and much more. As an elementary teacher I would expect to use programs like Microsoft Excel the least because the skills on this program are more advanced and are not skills that elementary students are expected to know. Microsoft Excel is used more for calculations and spread sheets.
