I have used Microsoft Word to do a
number of papers and essays all throughout middle and high school as well as
college. This program makes it very easy to organize and write papers and has
many applications to include into projects.
Regarding
copyright, as students we mostly just have to make sure the sources are cited.
Teachers have to follow these rules also when taking information for lessons
and need to include sources. This includes: videos, clips, clip art, cartoons,
articles, pictures, and much more.
With the legal issues, teachers
could be taught how to properly cite so they can use those sources in technology.
The social issues that come with technology, like cyberbullying and security
could be easily solved with frequent monitoring of the technology that the kids
are using in order to prevent this. Regarding the ethical issues, the teachers
just have to be aware of the rights that every student has.
I have found that sometimes it is hard for a teacher to effectively teach lessons on citing since there are a few websites that can cite for you. I think that teachers should go over the rules like you said but also work on showing kids the most effective way to cite and that may not always be done by hand it may be done by using an online generator.
ReplyDeleteLauren,
ReplyDeleteI have also used Microsoft word to do many papers and essays throughout my career as a student. It is one of the perks of being a writing major I suppose! Microsoft is very user friendly and is perfect for both new and advanced students when it comes to technology. Citing sources is so important that it can make or break you based on how you do them. They must be done properly! I think it is so important to teach students how to cite properly at an early age.
